Seige of Jerusalem Broken Jewish Food Convoy of Fifty Trucks Enters City

The Arab siege of Jerusalem was lifted today the first Jewish food convoy to arrive in the city for almost two weeks rolled the Jewish area under Haganah protection. There were 50 vehicles in the convoy ## it arrived.

The convoy, which originated in Tel Aviv, was on the road six days before it managed to break through Arab traps, roadblocks and minefields. Most of the time it out in or around Hulda, about midway between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, and the final was made after the Haganah poured an estimated 5,000 troops into the battle to control of the read. At least ten of the caravan’s trucks were lost during the ####.Jewish forces occupying the Arab village of Castel, five miles west of Jerusalem, fought off a new counterattack today, the fifth day of the occupation of the ##ge. Attacking forces also hit at the Jewish suburb of Motza and inflicted some age before being driven off. They also blasted several huge craters in the main ### which Castel dominates.

Three Jewish armored cars speeding to the assistance of the Jewish forces in pillage were attacked last night, but with the aid of a small unit of Haganah men ##ioned near the road succeeded in beating off the guerrillas. Some estimates of strength of the Arab forces in the area west of Jerusalem set them as high as the fighting men.

Meanwhile, the Jews have occupied several other Arab villages from which traffic along the main road to Jerusalem has been attacked. The Arabs report that village of Deir Mouhaisin, near Hulda, has been seized and occupied and the Jews as that Yazcur and Yehudia, in the Tel Aviv area, have also been occupied after very engagements.

IRGUNISTS RAID BRITISH CAMP, KILL COMMANDER AND SEVEN SOLDIERS

An Irgun unit today attacked a British Army camp at Pardes Hanna, midway between Tel Aviv and Haifa, killing the commanding officer and seven soldiers. Wearing British police uniforms, the Irgunists entered the camp in an armored car and had fire before the British were aware of their presence. One report said they {SPAN}##{/SPAN} off with a considerable amount of arms and ammunition after destroying radio committing equipment.

The police station at Belt Dajan on the main Jerusalem-Tel Aviv road, was ?ed today by unidentified persons using mortars. Bight sorter shells landed in the section’s courtyard. No casualties for damage were reported.

Chief Rabbi Isaac Herzog conferred with the High Commissioner yesterday on situation in Jerusalem, particularly In the Old City, Results of their dis###sion were not revealed. Two Jews were killed by Arab snipers la Jerusalem.
