Concentration camp provisions of the McCarran Act, which was opposed by major Jewish organizations, would be put in full force by a joint resolution introduced in the Senate yesterday by Sen. James O. Eastland. It was referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee, which is under the chairmanship of Sen. McCarran. The resolution calls for the declaration of “a state of internal security emergency” as a move to round up subversives as soon as possible. The McCarran Act was criticized by President Truman, labor unions, Jewish groups, and others.
