Sir Simon achieved prominence in England both as a businessman and a Jewish leader. He works at the side of Dr. Weizmann and during World War I was one of the most active leaders in the movement to bring about the issuance of the Balfour Declaration.
In 1936 he visited the United States as a member of a three-man British delegation, including Sir Herbert Samuel and Lord Bearstead, for the purpose of enlisting American Jewish cooperation in a large scale project for the emigration of Jews from Germany.
