Sixteen religious Jews, strict Sabbath observers who were arrested here yesterday after they attempted to force motorists out of their automobiles because they were breaking the Sabbath, were still in jail today, having refused bail. They formed a “minyan,” the ten men necessary for a congregation, and held regular services in jail. They refused to promise officials to abstain from creating similar disturbances this coming Saturday, declaring that they considered their battle with the motorists a religious fight for Sabbath observance.
