Some 100 pictures displayed these days in Artists House in Jerusalem have a somewhat frightening appearance. Although they have been drawn by different painters they have one thing in common–all were drawn by mental patients. The paintings made their way to the exhibition hall by the patient’s physician, Dr. Marcel Ashael of the Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot and of the psychiatric department at the Hebrew University, who regards painting as one way to help his patients.
