Acting Soviet Ambassador A. Safanov said here today that the official investigation of the anti-Semitic book, “Judaism Without Embellishment,” published by the Ukrainian Academy of Science in Kiev, was still underway in the Soviet Union.
He made the statement in an hour-long talk in Canberra with a deputation of the leftist Jewish Council to Combat Fascism and Anti-Semitism which called on him to protest against the book, which has been sharply criticized in the West as anti-Semitic. The Soviet envoy told the group that publication of the book had been a serious error.
