Speakers and deputy speakers of Parliaments in 41 countries have already expressed readiness to attend the official opening of the new building of Israel’s Parliament on August 30 and more confirmatory replies are expected, Moshe Rosetti, clerk of the Knesset reported today.
He also reported that representatives of Jewish communities, Zionist organizations and international Jewish groups also were planning to attend. The Parliamentary speakers who have accepted invitations include most American and West European countries, as well as some in Africa and in three Asian states, he said. No East European Parliament has as yet replied. The new building will be officially transferred from the public works department to the Knesset Speaker next Monday.
