There is a steady influx of Jews into the factories, the extent of which is forcibly brought out by the latest figures arriving here to-day from Odessa. According to these figures, there are 42,000 Jews now working in the factories in the City of Odessa, where only a year ago there were no more than 19,000 Jews in these factories.
A significant point in connection with the industrialisation of the Jews, it is pointed out, is their Russification. It is not forbid den to speak Yiddish in the factories, but the Jews invariably speak Russian. The special Jewish libraries are not patronised. The Jewish workers speak Russian and assimilate with the Russian workers, adopting Russian customs, despite the antisemitic outbursts which occur from time to time.
