The suicide of Prof. Hans Maral in Berlin provoked considerable sensation here in view of the fact that negotiations were just proceeding between the dental society in Warsaw and Prof. Maral with a view of the latter heading the dental institute in Warsaw. Prof. Maral was head of the dental institute in Rostock, Saxonia, and professor at the university there. When he was dismissed as a Jew from both these offices he was invited to come to Warsaw and continue with his work which gained for him international fame, and correspondence regarding the details of the arrangement was going on when the news arrived that he had committed suicide. It is believed that the Nazis, who had been persecuting him while he was in Rostock, continued to put obstacles in the way also of his leaving Germany, which finally drove him to despair. He was 60 years of age.
