Dr. Johannes Baumann, president of the Federal Council, warned that the Swiss Government was paying close attention to Nazi and Fascist agitation in the press and was determined to stamp it out with all means at its disposal. He made this statement at an extraordinary assembly here of delegates of the Radical-Democratic Party, the majority group in both houses of the Federal Assembly.

To prevent agitation, the cantonal governments have been authorized to ban newspapers found guilty of spreading subversive propaganda. The federal council has also requested Swiss papers not to abuse the liberty of the press in commenting on foreign affairs.
