A five hour battle between a band of Syrian rebels and the Tcherkess troop of the Transjordanian government was waged on the Transjordanian-Syrian frontier last Saturday.
The appearance of the rebel band created consternation. A previous attack of the rebels on Transjordanian territory the beginning of October was repulsed by British aeroplanes which forced them to return to Syria. The result of Saturday’s battel was that 51 of the rebels were killed. The commander of the Tcherkess troop, Osman Bey, also fell in the battle.
