Federal Minister of Finance Fritz Schaeffer has rejected a unanimous request of the Bundesrat that Federal income tax, and a Berlin emergency impost, not be levied on certain compensation heretofore paid out to some Jewish victims of Nazism on a tax-free basis. In Wuerttemberg-Baden alone, where the indemnification program is most advanced, some 4,000 persons are affected.
