A decision to proceed at once with the construction of five more buildings on the site of Technion City, the new campus of the Israel Institute of Technology at Haifa was taken at a meeting here this week-end of the Technion’s board of governors.
The structures include the central auditorium which will be named for Sir Winston Churchill, a technical high school named for Alexander Konoff of the United States an agricultural building named for Dr. Walter Clay Lowdermilk American soil conservationist who is currently teaching at the Technion, and a dining room and sol mechanics laboratory.
At the same time the board adopted an administrative budget of 2,913,000 pounds for the coming year and elected a number of new members to the board from U.S. Britain Canada and South Africa Later, the board members participated in a ceremony for the laying of the cornerstone of the new electrical engineering building named for Harry Fishbach of New York Members of the Fishbach family were present.
