The Council of the League of Nations after hearing in private session Austen Chamberlain defend the British policy, approved in public session without alteration the report of the Permanent Mandates Commission which asserted that Jewish immigration into Palestine was not in accordance with the interests of the country. At the same time the Palestine government sent a detailed answer to the petition of the Palestine Arab executive which, distributed among the members of the Permanent Mandates Commission and the Council, had largely determined the report and its acceptance, unaltered.
