noted for his leadership in the Institute, but also a citizen of Chicago at large. He was a member of the Chicago Board of Education from 1913-1922, and President of the Board for a good part of this time. Mr. Loeb is Vice-President of the Jewish Welfare Board, which is a national institution interested in the development of community centers in the United States. He was chairman of the drive for the Jewish War Sufferers in 1921, which raised $1,800,000. He was also chairman of the United Drive for $2,500,000 for Jewish Philanthropy Purposes in 1922, and chairman of the Four Million Dollar United Drive for Jewish purposes in 1925. It was due to his efforts in these latter two drives that the Institute has been the beneficiary of a million and a half dollars, with part of which it was able to build the Lawndale District Building.
