The British Government’s policy on Palestine was ##everely criticized during the week-end by delegates to the Assembly of the Church ## Scotland, which is now meeting in Edinburgh.The Assembly, which is devoting considerable time on its agenda to the Palestine problem, heard one minister term “tragic and blundering” the government’s decition to delay action on Jewish immigration ponding further consultation with the ##rabs. A second delegate warned of the dangers of anti-Semitism in Britain, asserting that it would result in a “return to fascism.”
S.Z. Shragai and Major M.A. Jaffe, representing the Jewish Agency, received ## warm welcome from the delegates, who come from all parts of the world. Shragai appealed to the clergymen to make their voices heard in favor of opening the gates ## Palestine. Following Shragai’s plea, the chairman of the Assembly, urged cooperation among the Jewish Agency, the Government and the Church of Scotland, declaring that all were deeply interested in the problem.
