The Jewish Defense League has wired the chairmen of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the House International Relations Committee asking permission to testify against the recently signed Sinai interim agreement. In the telegram, JDL head Rabbi Meir Kahane pointed out that the group opposed the pact in general and particularly against the clause calling for the introduction of U.S. personnel into the Sinai. The JDL sent a number of its representatives Monday to Washington where they began a week-long lobbying campaign against the agreement. Rabbi Kahane has asked permission from prison authorities to fly to Washington to testify personally before Congress. He has sought permission on grounds of “a potential death in the family, the Jewish people.”
