The Pope discussed the status of Jerusalem and the Middle East in a two-hour and twenty-minute meeting Monday with four African leaders, Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia, Sudanese President Jaafar el-Numeiry, Liberian Vice-President James Greene, and Zambian Foreign Minister Vernon Mwaanga. The four African leaders said that any solution to the Middle East crisis must take into the account the rights of Palestinians.
