The present means of assisting declassed Jews in the small towns are insufficient compared with the growing need, states a resolution adopted at the plenary meeting of the Yevsektzia, Jewish section of the Communist party. Qualifying the Jewish youth in crafts and artisan work on a cooperative basis, or organizing Jews on the land in neighboring villages is without serious significance for the improvement of the economic position, the resolution declares.
A demand for a plan for the economic rebuilding of the small towns, suitable to the individual qualities and possibilities of the various villages, is voiced in the resolution. The meeting further demanded drainage of the Polesie swamps near the Polish frontier, in order to enable the settlement of Jews there on a large scale.
