To the Editor, Jewish Daily Bulletin:
The Jewish Student Congress, which is composed of Jewish students from various colleges, recognizes the necessity for a Jewish University and its advantages outlined in Mr. Hollingsberg’s letter of recent date in the Jewish Daily Bulletin.
In one of the planks in its platform, the Jewish Student Congress advocates that
“A Jewish educational system shall be established in America. It shall be organized on a nonsectarian principle. The system will be non-parochial in nature and will include all educational institutions from grammar school to university. In addition to the ordinary academic, scientific, commercial and industrial studies, the curriculum shall include courses in the Hebrew and Yiddish languages and culture; shall include literature, music, art, philosophy, religion, etc. Special emphasis is to be placed on the University, since it is here that the Jewish problems are most acute. Such a system will provide adequate education for many Jewish students who cannot obtain admission to American colleges because of the ‘numerus clausus.’ It will provide adequate facilities for academic and scientific research for Jewish scholars who cannot secure positions on university faculties.”
The Jewish Student Congress meets at Congress House, 50 West 68th street, New York City, and will hold its next meeting there on Sunday evening, at 8 o’clock, on February 24th.
