The Simon Wiesenthal Center called on President Clinton to urge the leaders of the Baltic nations to prosecute suspected Nazi war criminals living unhindered in those countries. Efraim Zuroff, the center’s Israel director, wrote that some citizens of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia cooperated with the Nazis to an extent that made it a major factor in the annihilation of those countries’ Jewish populations.
