Various courts throughout Poland this week sentenced a woman and two men to death and one woman to a prison term for torturing and murdering Jews during the Nazi occupation.
In Warsaw, Maria Lipinska was condemned for denouncing Jews to the Gestapo, while in Lodz Rudolph Malysz was sentenced to be hanged for torturing Jewish prisoners at the Oswiecim death camp. A Cracow court condemned Wincenty Waterski, a former policeman, for murdering Jews during the liquidation of the Gorlice ghetto. Magdelena Schneider received a nine-year sentence for torturing Jewish women at a Nazi labor camp in Silesia where she was the superintendent.
