A suggestion to utilize the Sephardic Jews for the purpose of alleviating the financial crisis of Spain is made by the Catalonian organ of Barcelona, “La Publicitat,” in an article entitled, “The Influence of the Sephardic Colonies,” written by the well known economist. Senor Vicenc Bernades.
The writer promises that in the course of a series of articles he will discuss more fully the present position of Sephardic Jewry and prove how the Sephardic Jews could be of great use to Spain in solving its present difficulties.
The idea put forward by “La Publicitat” follows closely on a similar suggestion made by the Madrid daily, “Heraldo de Madrid,” which said that an extensive publicity campaign should be conducted among the Sephardic Jews for the purpose of inducing them to visit Spain as tourists to see their motherland.
