Two Jews Chosen As Mayors in Canada; First Jewish Judge in Alberta

Two Jews were chosen as mayors of their respective cities in Western Canada. Allan Barsky was elected mayor of Prince Albert, Sask. At Flin Flon, Man., Jack Freadman was chosen mayor.

Samuel S. Liebernan, a prominent Jewish attorney, was sworn in today in Edmonton, Alta. as judge of the District of Northern Alberta. He is the first Jewish judge in Alberta and at 44 is the youngest judge ever appointed to a superior court in the province. He is active in the United Jewish Appeal and in B’nai B’rith and is a member of the board of the Jewish Community Council of Edmonton.
