Two of Israel’s leading representatives are scheduled to tour the US and Canada during the next six weeks to alert major Jewish communities to the strategic importance of economic development in the absorption of an increased number of immigrants this year. Lt. Gen. Haim Laskov, former Chief of Staff of Israel’s Defense Forces, who served for 10 years as head of the country’s Port Authority, arrives in the US on April 7. Avraham Avidar, official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and former Minister of Information in Washington, will arrive on April 21. Both leaders will report on Israel’s economic situation in an effort to spur the drive for Israel Bonds. The 1972 Israel Bond campaign seeks to raise a worldwide total of $450 million.
