Two Iranian Jews, Morad Arieh and Amshid Kashfi are contesting the seat allotted to the Jewish community in the election to the Majlis (lower house).
Arieh is a member of the Opposition, the People’s (Mardom) party, and Kashfi of the governing Nationalist party. The Jewish community favors Kashfi since Arieh, who is titular head of the community, has alienated many Jews by his anti-Zionist stand.
