The problem of Jewish war orphans now being brought up in non-Jewish homes will be one of the matters which will come up for consideration by the United Nations in drafting a Children’s Charter, Sir Rafael Cilento, director of the Social Division of the U.N. Social and Economic Council said today.
Replying to a question from an Agudas Israel representative at a meeting of accredited non-governmental organizations, Sir Rafael also suggested that intervention by the International Refugee Organization might be possible in handling the matter. Harry Goodman, Agudas Israel spokesman, said that thousands of abandoned Jewish children now being brought up in non-Jewish families are being estranged from their faith.
