The Army has prohibited the showing of films depicting Nazi persecution of Jews to American soldiers bound for duty in Germany, it was admitted today by Army authorities here.
An Army spokesman said the films “might create ill-will” against the Germans and that the Signal Corps Film Service was operating “under entirely different instructions at the present time.” One film banned was “Concentration Camp Atrocities.” The Army described this documentary as the “most spectacular coverage of atrocities in various German concentration camps.” The orientation film, “Death Mills,” was listed as “limited to specific audiences.” The Pentagon defined “specific audiences” as troops not destined for duty in Germany.
