A plan for the “adoption” of Israel synagogues by congregations in the United States and other countries outside Israel was announced here today by the Ministry for Religions, which has circularized some 200 synagogues and religious institutions abroad asking their cooperation.
Under the plan, the Israel synagogue and its “adopter” congregation will exchange information about programs of worship, prayer observances and religious objects. The plan is intended also to promote personal ties between members of synagogues here and abroad and to enable them to make personal contact when observing Jews from abroad visit Israel.
