Pointing out that the Joint Distribution Committee is being called upon to expend this year $60,000,000, which is one-third of all its expenditures since it was founded in 1914, Dr. Joseph C. Hyman, executive vice-chairman of the JDC, stressed today that American Jews must now shoulder “every problem effecting the destiny and the needs of Jews throughout the world.”
Dr. Hyman spoke before the first annual meeting of the General Jewish Committee of Providence at the Hotel Biltmore here. Archibald Silverman was re-elected president of the group.
