Valery Pilnikov, a 46 year-old Jewish engineer from Kiev, has been released from a Soviet labor camp after serving four years of a five year sentence for “malicious hooliganism”, the National Conference on Soviet Jewry reported Monday. According to the NCSJ, Pilnikov was released one year early for “good behavior” and is back in Kiev. He and his wife Olga have been waiting since 1979 for permission to emigrate to Israel. They have a two-year-old son.
