Jewish names inscribed on the Wailing Wall’s monoliths were defaced and erased in 24 different places during the night by unknown persons. The police have instituted an investigation. The act is interpreted here either as a piece of Arab vandalism or an attempt by interested parties to remove generation-old Jewish marks prior to the arrival of the Wailing Wall Commission.
