Jewish newspapers today commented bitterly on the Earl of Plymouth’s statement in the House of Lords Wednesday in which he affirmed Great Britain’s intention to proceed with plans for establishment of a legislative council in Palestine.
Lord Plymouth’s statement that any indication that the British Government intended to postpone the council would “seriously shake Palestine’s confidence” in the Government and would lead to serious unrest, has created consternation among the Jewish population of Poland where Palestine is looked to as their only refuge. Editorials in the press are unanimous in assailing Great Britain’s desire to stamp the Jewish people as a minority in Palestine.
