Rosa Ponselle and Nino Martini will be the featured artists at a benefit concert at the Metropolitan Opera House on Sunday evening, February 3, arranged by the Manhattan chapter of the women’s division of the American Jewish Congress, it was announced yesterday.
Proceeds will be used as a maintenance fund for American Jewish Congress House, center and shelter for refugees from Germany.
Mrs. Jacob M. Ross is in charge of concert details, assisted by a committee which includes Mrs. Fiorello H. LaGuardia and Mrs. Bernard Deutsch, honorary co-chairmen; Mrs. Jacob Schechter, secretary, and Mrs. Gustav Reuss, treasurer.
Others on the committee include Mrs. Samuel J. Levy, Mrs. Jack Frank, Mrs. William Heller, Mrs. Cyrus Leventhal, Mrs. George Fox, Mrs. N. Abramson, Mrs. Cherry Stoller, Mrs. Beatrice Block, Mrs. Simon Frankel, Mrs. R. Blum, Mrs. George Trosk, Mrs. Morris Goldberg, Mrs. Ira Frank, Mrs. Samuel Cahan, Mrs. Joseph Margulies, Mrs. M. Michelman, Mrs. Benjamin Lazarus, Mrs. M. Voss, Mrs. S. Felenstein, Mrs. Carl Sherman, Mrs. Nathan D. Pearl-man and Mrs. Joseph M. Levine.
