A five-day conference of the European Consultative Council of the World Jewish Congress to discuss the current problem of Jews in Europe opened here today. Delegates from twenty countries, including the United States, are participating in the parley.

Lady Reading, who was one of the chief speakers at the first session, declared that Britain was still the best friend the Jewish people had. Stating that she hoped for a “Jewish Palestine,” Lady Reading called for a greater degree of responsibility on the part of the Palestine Jews.
