A number of Belgian deputies and organizations are preparing to draft a measure calling for amnesty of former Nazi collaborators sentenced after the war for a variety of crimes. The measure reportedly would provide for their release from prison with compensation for the years spent behind bars and jobs comparable to those they had before being sentenced. Belgian Jewish veterans organizations and other groups have called upon the government to veto the measure and “not to forget the past.”
