Two 17-year-old high school students helped launch “United Jewish Appeal Cash Week” in New York today with a $5000 bundle of checks and bills, the first proceeds of a recent mass walk-a-thon in which 800 youngsters, 12 to 18, participated.

NY) was honored by the UJA of Greater New York at the luncheon in the New York Hilton to which Shifra Bronznick and Evan Bachner, representing the Jewish High School Student Alliance, brought the initial installment of $20,000 pledged by the sponsors of young people who hiked a total of 8000 miles through Manhattan streets June 4.
Campaign Cabinet chairman Irving Schneider, who presided at the luncheon, reported that the 1972 UJA drive in New York City, Westchester and Long Island has reached the $56 million mark. He announced an effort to add 100,000 more families to the role of contributors before the year is out.
A fire attributed to a technical malfunction caused slight damage to a tower at the Haifa oil refineries last night. The fire was extinguished quickly and there, was no interruption in production. An Army spokesman dismissed as nonsense a claim by Arab terrorists in Lebanon that they were responsible for the fire.
