Chief Rabbi M. Alkalay of Yugoslavia was given a place of honor today in the funeral procession which escorted the late King Alexander to his final resting place among the tombs of the Karageorgevitch dynasty.
By special invitation of the royal family, the chief rabbi marched in the procession with the members of the royal family and the members of the government.
Clothed in a black linen robe of mourning, the chief rabbi walked between the Archbishop of Belgrade and the Moslem Grand Mufti. Almost immediately behind him walked Hermann Wilhelm Goering, Premier of Prussia and right hand man of Reichsfuehrer Adolf Hitler.
Similar honors were accorded Chief Rabbi Alkalay at receptions and parades for the arrival of the young boy-king of Yugoslavia, Peter II.
