The recent events in Palestine have not harmed the Zionist future there, declared Justin Godart, President of the French Senate, who has just returned from a trip to Palestine.

In an interview with the representative of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. M. Godart described the Jewish people’s achievement in Palestine as brilliant.

A handful of chiefs, not the Arab masses, are responsible for the Arab outbreaks, he asserted. A Jewish-Arab reconciliation is possible and desirable despite the events.

The Palestine Administration, he stated, is guilty of shortsightedness in not maintaining adequate forces in the country at a time when it is passing through a transitory period, but it is not guilty of anti-Semitism. The British have failed to understand that Palestine is not an ordinary colony, but a country of antique traditions. The Arabs and the Jews are not savages, but nations needing careful handling, he pointed out.
