JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israeli security forces thwarted two attempted-car ramming attacks in the West Bank.

The forces shot the Palestinian driver of a car in the village of Idna, near Hebron, on Tuesday as he tried to run over Border Police officers who were securing the area for Israeli Civil Administration employees, Ynet reported.

The driver, Omar Hassan al-Awawdeh, 27, of Idna, died of his injuries, the Palestinian Maan news agency reported.

Also Tuesday, in the village of Jiftlik in the Jordan Valley, a Palestinian man tried to run over security officers protecting soldiers who were in the village to demolish illegal structures. Police arrested the driver.

Haaretz reported Tuesday that attempted terror attacks in West Bank are increasing, citing Israeli security officials.
