Members of four congregations of the West Side gathered last night at the Hotel Astor and received from Dr. Chaim Weizmann, President of the World Zionist Organization, a first hand report of the Zionist situation.

Although no funds were collected at the meeting, Mr. H. Leonard Simmons announced that the $100,000 quota for the West Side would be forthcoming shortly.

Assurance that Great Britain intends to fulfill the Palestine Mandate, was announced last night by Captain Gloster Armstrong, British Consul General in New York.

“The British Empire received the mandate of Palestine” said Captain Armstrong, “and it was an honor to the Britons to receive it. The British nation is determined to carry out the promise it made. This can best be done by the loyal, unstinted aid of the Jews throughout the world.

“Your guest comes to you to ask you to help support him in this wonderful piece of work, this wonderful reconstruction. I have been here long enough to know he will receive the loyal and substantial support of all of you”.
