Herr Sommerfield, a banker, was yesterday arrested in Essen, Ruhr zone, by the French occupation troops.

While no reason has been given for the arrest, it is believed to be due to the fact that Sommerfield heeded the order of the German government and refused to cash German marks at their present depreciated rate.
