Charges that the local offices of the Jewish community in Palestine known as the “Kolel Shomre Hachomoth” (Guardians of the Walls) had used all the contributions intended for the members of the community for the expenses of the local office are made in an appeal published in the Jewish Morning Journal by the Rev. Dr. Philip Klein.

Rabbi Klein contends that the local offices have not sent as much as a cent to the Jerusalem community in 5 months. He couples this charge with an appeal that Hungarian Jews send moneys intended for the “Kolel” direct to Jerusalem or else only to representatives authorized by him. He states that 3,000 members of the Hungarian community in Jerusalem are in woeful distress.
