The attitude of the police during the antiOJewish pogrom is attacked by Alkert Weidner, publisher of the democratic Welt-am-Montag, a witness to the excesses.
The police barricaded the streets, Herr Weidner asserts, but did not succeed in preventing Jews from being beaten, robbed and stripped naked on the streets that were presumably guarded by them. It was only after Minister of Interior Severing issued a special command that order was restored, Herr Weidner asserts, demanding to know,”who is guilty?”
