A duel between the young Polish poet, Anthony Slonimsky, and the Polish artist Szczuka took place today, near Warsaw, with the result that the latter was wounded. The duel aroused a good deal of interest because of the circumstances surrounding it. Slonimsky, whose grandfather, Chaim Zelig Slonimsky, was a famous Hebrew scholar and writer, but whose won father was a baptized Jew, wrote an anti-Semitic article at which Sezeuka, a Christian Pole, took offence. Meeting Slonimsky in a cafe, Szczuka struck him, and Slonimsky challenged him to a duel.
