Jewish World Relief Conference Dissusses Relief Work in Russia

The plenary meetings of the Executive Committee of the Jewish World Relief Conference have been concluded here this week.

Dr. D. Jochelman, a member of the Executive, submitted a detailed report on the mission which he recently carried out in Russia. He expressed his conviction that a continuation of the relief work is essential.

Dr. Jochelman further reported on the possibility of a United Jewish People’s Bank being able to conduct a relief activity in Russia by the advancement of credits. He submitted for the approval of the Executive the preliminary convention which he had signed on behalf of the United Jewish People’s Bank with the UKrainian Bank, for the transmission of remittances.

In view of Dr. Jochelman’ report, the Executive Committee had decided to intensify its campaign on behalf of the Jews in the Ukraine and to expedite the opening in Paris of a branch of the United Jewish People’s Bank.

It has been decided also to convoke the Second World Relief Conference for August 12th in Carlsbad. Many Jewish relief organizations and leading Jewish communal organizations are being invited to participated.
