Protests Abroad Compel Roumanian Government to Protect Jewish Population

The pressure of public opinion in the United States and in other western countries has compelled the Roumanian Government to take measures for the protection of the Jewish population from further attacks.

A meeting of the Fascisti students, disciples of Prof. Cuza, took place yesterday in Jassy. The purpose of the meeting was to work out an entirely new program for the Fascisti movement. The police surrounded the meeting place and made several arrests.

Similar action was taken by the Roumanian authorities in Celea, Codrea and Klausenburg. Many arresters were made in the latter city. The Military Commandant, General Popps, declared to a Jewish delegation that from now on he will not permit any disturbances of the peace.

Well-known Jewish citizens of Roumania, who have arrived in this city, express their thanks to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency and the Jewish press in America for their correct and courageous reports of the anti-Jewish atrocities in Roumania.
