The school council of the city of Berlin has elevated one of its staff members, a Jewish teacher, to the position of superintendent. Following this appointment, the Russian Minister of Education, Boelitz, a member of the anti-Semitic Voelkischer Partei, instructed all school authorities in Prussia not to appoint to such positions Jews.
The Jewish teachers in Berlin have submitted their protest against the decision, terming it a direct violation of the constitutional privilege of equality. The Kehilla of Berlin has taken a great interest in this case and a special meeting was convened for the purpose of considering the course of action to be taken.
