The Roumanian official, Zurkan, responsible for the anti-Jewish excesses in Pirilizi, was released by the authorities of Jassy.

Zurkan, who was arrested by the local police, was’ taken to Jassy where he was freed by the higher authorities.

During the recent fair in the village, Zurkan attacked Jewish passersby with his revolver and urged the peasants to start a pogrom.
