(Jewish Telegraphic Agency)

The request to permit the burial of Jewish dead on Sunday was refused by the town council of Southend, England.

Sunday internments were never permitted by the municipality. The Hebrew Congregation applied to the town council for permission to hold burials before 10 o’clock in the morning on Sunday.
